Ciao a tutti (Hello All),

I tried to PM Dreyfus, but I never got a response. So I thought I would write this post and see if anyone else would help me translate the Tau information I found here. And also help me answer some questions about the information.

#entry597486158

www.dropbox.com/s/nrwf41hyl9ef056/Carte%20Tau.pdf?dl=0

As I don't know any Italian I took the liberty of putting the information through Google Translate and got the bulk of it translated. Now I just need help cleaning up the information so I could use this unit in Starquest (a.k.a Space Crusade). I can also send the files that I have made for these translations.

I also wanted to ask when you look at the file that shows the Tau's entry and exit tile, is there a colorized version of this tile. I just did this quick one in Photoshop. I know the whole thing needs outline in black now but I just wanted to show you guys what I was talking about.

Se qualcuno qui fosse disposto ad aiutarmi con questo sarebbe fantastico.

If anyone here would be willing to help me with this that would be great.

Grazie per il tuo tempo

Thank you for your time

Hello darklestat79, and welcome to our forum!
About your request, personally - because of my poor and scholastic english (sorry! ) - I'm not able to translate the texts with all the nuances that we used for the originals in italian language: the writing areas in the cards are very small and often we're forced to concentrate all in few words to obtain a text clear and without misunderstanding.
My proposal: Google translate is enough good to translate the texts (mostly for the fronts); then you could write us the parts that possibly you didnt' understand or about which you're in trouble o have some questions, and so we'll can help you. ^_^

Hello and welcome again! :)
Sorry, I didn't receive any pm in last period...

Thanks for the coloured tile, for translation: are you asking for Tau's cards?

Thank you for the reply and over this weekend I'll try to read over everything and come up with the question. Also thanks for the kind words on the exit tile. I was not sure if someone already had a color one. I just colored it in from the two black and white copies that came in the PDF.

I noticed that the file linked in this post is out of date. Try taking a look at this page: the file you find there is up to date. You can download the Shas'la cards at this link: Carte Shas'la in armatura da combattimento

Hi.
Which translation you need, exactly?

Tau Order Cards, Equipment, Rules?

After trying to read through everything this weekend here are the questions that I have so far:

Tau rule questions

1. What are the fonts used?

2. Could I have a copy of the artwork used on the title page for the title of this document?
Just the one that says: Starquest Assalto Tau
That way I can put the English text on it.

3. Each unit in the main game have a commander that is not wearing a helmet, while the rest of the unit is wearing them. Should the tau
miniatures in this unit have the same look? The minis I found would have this same look or there are extra heads without helmets so the unit could
be mixed up more, but I was not sure what you had in mind for this unit's look.

4. On page 3, the last sentence in the paragraph under the Tau stats translates to:

This allows them to strike above theirs category, thanks
to durable armor, high-powered weapons and laser targeting systems that improve the
chances of hitting the target.
But the wording does not sound right to me, what should it say?

5. On page 4 under the heading "Il Fucile ad Impulsi" the last sentence in the paragraph translates to:

The Tau make extensive use of artificial intelligence in their technology, in each mission can therefore optionally employ a Drone extremely fast,
thanks to its anti-grav motors, as a support unit.
After the first coma the wording does not sound right to me, what should it say?

6. On page 4 under the heading "La Carabina ad Impulsi" the last sentence in the paragraph translates to:

A of these could be removed, provided there are enough stitches left.
But the wording does not sound right to me, what should it say?

7. On page 4 under the heading "Drone con doppia Carabina ad Impulsi" the paragraph says that A Team of 4 Warriors and a Shas'Ui can be
supported by a Drone armed with a double Carbine, it can fire with the values of a Pulse Carbine. Does this mean the Drone has two separate
guns to fire using the Pulse Carbine stats? Or does the fact that you get to re-roll a die to improve the result, count as the double action of the
Drone's double Carbine and no matter what the answer is because it has the stats of the Pulse Carbine does the resulting firing of the weapon
get split against two targets in the line of fire?

8. Based on question eight above, as far as minis would go I would need the five Tau minis and a Drone mini right? Are there any other minis
I would need as a Tau player?

9. On page 5 under the heading "Abbordando uno Scafo Spaziale" should the first sentence read:

A. Thanks to their advanced technology, the Warrior Teams are able to enter and exit Space Hulks thanks to a support vehicle of the Imperial
Tau Fleet, led by members of the Air Caste.

or

B. Thanks to their advanced technology, the Warrior Teams are capable of entering and exiting the Space Hulks thanks to a support vehicle of the
Imperial Tau Fleet, led by members of the Air Caste.

10. Just wondering for myself is this support vehicle more like the Transportation rings from the Star Gate movie and Tv Show?

https://stargate.fandom.com/wiki/Transportation_rings

11. On page 5 under the heading "Abbordando uno Scafo Spaziale" should the last paragraph read:

To get to safety and exit the Space Hulk, the Tau units must return to their starting area. The tile does not block line of sight or line of fire,
but it cannot be crossed by other units. Also why are there two of these if you the Tau enter and exit on the same one?

12. On page 6 under the stats for the Shas'Ui, there is a small paragraph should it read:

A. As they progress in terms of recognition, the Shas'Ui increase the number of assets and equipment available for your team, according
to the following table of recognition levels.

or

B. As they progress in experience, the Shas'Ui increase the number of orders and equipment available for their team, according
to the following table of experience levels.

13. On page 6 under the stats for the Shas'Ui, there is a chart for Equipment Cards and Order Cards. What do the letters to the left of this chart
mean? They are:

LA
UI
VRE
EL
O

14. On page 6 under the chart mentioned above in question 13, when I read the paragraph because of wording I don't understand what it
should say or what it is trying to explain? Here is what I have though:

Before a new mission, each Warrior can be equipped with a Pulse Rifle or Pulse Carbine.
Each Warrior equipped with a pulse weapon is rated 7 points for Combat Efficiency Table for both the Alien and, in negative, the Tau player.
A Drone armed with a Pulse Carbine is worth 7 points, while a Shas'Ui 10 points.
In Tau Assault, the Alien will use the Combat Efficiency Table of the base game Space Crusade.

15. On page 7 when I read the opening paragraph on that page I don't understand what it should say or what it is trying to explain? Also could you
explain the chart under this paragraph better? Here is what I have though:

To reward the Tau Player who managed to stay alive for several consecutive missions your Shas'Ui even without advancing a level, units with
improved characteristics compared to those can be introduced of departure. For each mission completed, after the third, with the same Shas'Ui,
the Tau player gets the chance to hire Warriors and Drones that possess special abilities.
There are three types of skills: basic, intermediate and advanced, each with different scores
(+1, +2, +3 to the TEC score) and the Tau Player can choose whether to assign them to different units or when he has more than one available
entrust more than one to a single unit. From the beginning of the fourth mission, the Tau Player can select the first two basic skills to acquire and
can freely assign them to the units that make up his squad, stationary subject to the following constraints:
- to each mission it survives, the Shas'Ui can add abilities of higher grade than the previous one;
- a unit can have a maximum of three skills (or abilities);
- skills are divided into categories corresponding to the type of unit;
- each skill can be used a maximum of once per turn, except exceptions allowed by Order cards.

As you can see from these questions most of the questions I have are about wording. I still think it would be easier for all for me to just add the text documents here and let you read them so you guys can read what I have and make suggestions on the wording. Then if I find I have other questions I can just ask those. Then I could apply that text to the cards for example.

Can anyone tell me the best way to get the text document to you guys?

It seems to me that your questions refer to a very old version of the manual. As I told you in this post, all the updated material can be found on this page. All the manuals and the cards refer to a game system mode named "Mortis Thule", linked on a Recruiting Level and Support Option system (you can find the manuals in the same download page).

CITAZIONE
Based on question eight above, as far as minis would go I would need the five Tau minis and a Drone mini right?

1 Shas'Ui (without helmet)
4 Shas'la (with helmet)
1 Drone (Support Option)

CITAZIONE
Are there any other minis I would need as a Tau player?

Others Support Option: Special Character, Special Troops, Armored.

If you play like a Tau Master you need more miniatures: 10 Kroot, 1 Krootox, 6 Pathfinder, 5 Drones.

You can see all the miniatures you need downloading the Mortis Thule Vassal Module at this post.

So I did see the FFU icon here on next to where you write a message and I did go through the steps it asked for to upload a file, but I don't know if it worked. As for the replies I got here:

Sloggam I understand what you mean about the areas on the cards being very small. I run into that when making cards for Heroquest. Sometimes to get everything I need to putt on the card I have even had to fudge the font size a bit. As for the links you added it was kind of mind blowing, all I had for this project was what you called the out of date file. Being that I thought I was pretty far in translating this project, after seeing that new file I was like no... that would mean starting over lol. But even not being translated I can see that the new file was way more detailed.

I noticed that the file linked in this post is out of date. Try taking a look at this page: the file you find there is up to date. You can download the Shas'la cards at this link:

Dreyfus Thanks for the welcome and it's possible that when I sent you the PM it did not go through maybe because I'm navigating the site with a translator on. Sorry about that.

In regards to Dreyfus and |n$4n3 I am trying to get the translations for all of the information needed to add the Tau to my game. Order Cards, Equipment, Rules and so on.

Just a general question for all of you. If or since the Kroot are part of the Tau Empire, if the Alien player deployed them on the board how would that affect the Tau unit? Would the Kroot not attack the Tau or would the Tau be able to turn them to their side to fight for them like and order card or something?
https://ro.pinterest.com/pin/655836764485987664/
Not that I plan on doing this but I seen this and I thought I should ask the question.

In Mortis Thule the Master is like the Alien Player in Starquest. As in Starquest the Alien Player controls Gretchin, Orks, Chaos Marines and Androids, in Mortis Thule the Master controls different types of units, but all the units belong to the same faction. The Kroot are confederate of the Tau Empire and fight for the Tau like light infantry.

As for the rules I would say that they are not implementable in Space Crusade, at least as they were designed.
The rules you found are for an expanded game system they use on Vassal.

Should skim the rules of everything not inherent to the rules present in the original Space Crusade rulebook.
A bit long job, but feasible.

For the translation of cards, if you aren't too much hurry, I can translate them and send it on a Docx file.

So that there are no misunderstandings, I specify:
MT is a system of rules that extends, with a lot of respect, the material of the original game and we also use it for live matches!

|n$4n3 I just wanted to give you a heads up I just sent you a PM and an email about your post. I wanted to say this here so you would see that I did that since Dreyfus had told us that he did not get the one I sent him that first time.

Thanks again to all here that have answered this post. And much like Jannaar thank you all for letting me know that this Tau file is kind of like an advanced addition to the normal game.

Hello All,

I finally took the time to outline the Tau's entry and exit tile in black. I think it makes it look 20 times better this way. Only cause the time difference it's 9:00am where I'm at in the states put I plan on putting a pic up of this new look tonight after 4pm when I get off. But I was wondering if someone would mind hosting this pdf for others to download if they want or tell me how I can put it up for people to download it. Once posted please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks
